Hindu Tamil Wedding
Sarah & Krishna - Hindu & Civil ceremonies @ Heythorpe Park,
After meeting Sarah & Krishna’s for their engagement session at Lickey Hills in Birmingham, we couldn’t wait to shoot their two day wedding at the Heythorpe Park Resort in Enstone in Oxfordshire six weeks later.
We’re so very happy that this couple came across us through Fearless Photographer website. I consider myself very lucky and privileged that they chose me as there’s so many talented photographers on Fearless.
This was a Sri Lankan Hindu Tamil wedding celebration and a civil ceremony that we were documenting over two days. The celebrations started for them and their families many days before - I don’t know where they get the stamina from. First was the Hindu ceremony and reception party in the Ballroom followed the next day by a much calmer and quieter Civil wedding ceremony in the Orangery at the resort .
Thankfully we decided to stay at the resort as well which worked out great as on the first wedding day, we starting with a cleansing ceremony with the groom and his family at 7am. Poor Krishna, having ice cold milk and water poured on him at that time in the morning would have woke anyone up - forget coffee. I’ve never witnessed this type of ceremony before and this why I love my job so much. I get to see so many different traditions and cultures on an exceptionally happy and fun day.
The day was a blast and with so much love, colour, noise and happiness. I’ll never forget the amount of care and attention Sarah and Krishna’s families took to look after us throughout the day - it was overwhelming. Thank you all for your kindness and warmth.
