Such a fantastic choice of North East wedding venue. Matfen Hall is set in 300 acres of beautiful Northumbrian Countryside and is such a unique and historic venue that is only 17 miles from Newcastle city centre.

This was to be a very special wedding for a very special couple who were High School Sweethearts.
Rachel & Andrew made such a fantastic choice when choosing which North East wedding venue to hold their wedding at. Matfen Hall is set in 300 acres of beautiful Northumbrian Countryside and is such a unique and historic venue that is only 17 miles from Newcastle city centre.
At Matfen in the great hall there is a spectacular bridal entrance with a large spectacular Oak sweeping staircase that brought Rachel and her father as they made their way down to the wedding ceremony that was positioned right in front of the grand open fireplace where Andrew was waiting for his Bride.
After the ceremony the we shoot the groups in front of the fire place inside Matfen Hall. This was a good idea and allowed us a more relaxed environment to gather groups as it was raining off and on throughout the day
The day was fantastic and the wedding party took full advantage of the rest of the venue using The Cloister courtyard with its Fire Pit and The Vault Bar. Matfen Hall is truly an unforgettable romantic setting for a wedding.

Penny & Matt tied the knot on New Year’s Eve surrounded by the sunning Northumbrian countryside at their North East wedding venue, Charlton Hall in Chathill.

This was to be my first time photographing a wedding on the 31st December. I’ve always booked my diary off over the festive holidays and it was time for a change. Meeting Penny & Matt who were planning their wedding day at Charlton Hall on NYE, I’m so happy to have be able to photograph this New Year’s Eve double celebration and now can’t wait to take on more NYE bookings in the future.
Winter weddings can be very challenging with the extreme weather, the low temperatures and lack of natural light. We were lucky and had the most perfect day with clear blue skies and lots of sunshine for Penny & Matt’s wedding. The only difficulty we found was with camera battery life with subzero temperatures as we had 2 hours long exposure for the star-trail portrait and fireworks. I think Veronica really felt it as she was out in the middle of a pitch black frozen field alone for 25 mins waiting to capture the fireworks at the turn of 2020. Feeling very guilty - I stayed in the warmth photographing the wedding party in Charlton Hall’s ‘The Looking Glass’ reception room - BIG love & respect to my wife Veronica for doing that for me as I know her mediterranean blood needs a lot heat.
This wedding venue is perfect! A wedding photographers dream. It’s just my style - fun & quirky with loads of photo ops both in an outdoors. Charlton Hall is a dog-friendly wedding venue which was perfect for Penny & Matt at their brought along their 2 dogs as ring bearers.

It’s has to be one of the best venues in the North East as it’s a wedding photographers dream because it’s a quirky venue that’s surrounded by the stunning Northumberland countryside.

When we first met Holly, Mark and their dog Harley during their engagement photoshoot at Bolam Lake. I knew straight away that their wedding day was going to be a very enjoyable wedding to photograph.
Both Holly & Mark did an amazing job to reflect their personalities, during the day. Their fun and quirkiness was the perfect fit for their venue. Woodhill Hall, located in Otterburn, Northumberland, which has to be one of my favourite venues to photograph. In my opinion, it’s one of the best venues in the North East as it’s a wedding photographers dream as it’s surrounded by the stunning Northumbrian countryside, has cool décor and is a very quirky wedding venue that offers diverse areas and locations to take advantage of, from tiny secret neon light bars to a huge triple Tipi.
This was to be an autumnal wedding, full of colour & laughter; and one we will not forget.
