Extravagant Chinese fusion wedding at the Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar, Malta.
This was a fairytale wedding that set the bar high and that succeeded all my expectations. With 4 wedding dresses and 3 pairs of wedding shoes, this was going to be a wedding to remember.
Florence and Wai-Lim are a lovely couple now living in the London with their families roots back in Hong kong and China. They chose the Palazzo Parisio in Malta as their venue for their fairytale wedding. There were to be two wedding ceremonies - firstly the civil ceremony in the palazzo's Sala Lombarda (red room), followed by the traditional Chinese tea ceremony in the Parisio's gardens.
Before Wai-Lim could go on to the Chinese tea ceremony, and while Florence was getting changed into beautiful wedding dress number two, himself and his male entourage (Hing Dai’s) had to take part in 'Chinese Wedding Door Games'. If you’re unfamiliar with Chinese Wedding Door Games, at a Chinese Wedding, it’s likely the bride and groom may want some fun games. This is a fun and light hearted Chinese wedding tradition and this was the first time I had witnessed it and it's hilarious, crazy and complete madness.
Traditionally, the groom will not be allowed to see his bride until he and his Hing-Dai’s have passed all the tests set out by the bridesmaids and her female friends (Tze Mui’s). Hence, Wai-Lim couldn't go the Chinese ceremony until be completed the funny game tasks. The reason behind the games is so to prove that the Tze-Mui’s are not prepared to let their good friend go so easily and to also show the grooms love for his bride!
Needless to say Wai-Lim proved is love for Florence and the door games set the tone for the rest of the day which was an fun and exciting evening during the wedding reception held within the colourful gardens in the Palazzo.
